In modern pulp and paper industry, the pulping process serves as the starting point and core of the entire production line. Within this complex and demanding process, the pulp pump—especially the power-driven pulp pump—plays a role akin to a “heart.” It is responsible for safely, stably, and efficiently conveying various media such as pulp of different concentrations, chemicals, and waste liquids to various treatment stages.

Unlike ordinary pumps designed for conveying clean water or other homogeneous fluids, pulp pumps operate under extremely complex conditions, with the core challenge being:
1. High abrasiveness of the medium: Pulp fibers, especially those containing fillers (such as kaolin and calcium carbonate), exhibit strong abrasiveness, which can rapidly wear the flow components of the pump (impeller, pump casing, wear plate).
2. Non-Newtonian fluid characteristics of the medium: Pulp suspension is a fibrous network, and its viscosity varies with concentration and shear rate, exhibiting non-Newtonian fluid behavior. This leads to complex calculations for pump parameters such as head, flow rate, and shaft power, and makes it prone to clogging at low flow velocities.
3. Solid-Liquid Two-Phase Flow and Cavitation Risks: The pulp contains fibers, water, air, and chemicals, which can easily lead to gas binding. Additionally, when the pump inlet pressure is insufficient, the water in the pulp vaporizes, causing cavitation that severely damages the pump body and exacerbates wear.
4. Concentration and Corrosiveness: The pump must handle pulps ranging from low concentration (<1%) to high concentration (>15%), with the medium potentially being acidic or alkaline, requiring excellent corrosion resistance.
