The screw press is mainly used for extracting black liquor from pulp in large pulp mills: it is installed under the spray chamber and relies on the mechanical extrusion of the variable diameter and variable pitch screw to separate the black liquor from the pulp. The black liquor is precipitated from the filter frame to the black liquor. The liquid tank and the output slurry concentration can also be adjusted using the back pressure device at the discharge point.
